Venezeula is on the brink of collapse with socialist dictator Nicolas Maduro’s regime coming apart at the seems. The United States is getting involved, and the neocons within the Trump administration are threatening sabotage the progress being made in the country.
“Without a doubt, Donald Trump gave the order to kill me, told the Colombian government, the Colombian mafia, to kill me. If something happens to me, Donald Trump and Colombian President Ivan Duque will be responsible,” Maduro said to RIA Novosti.
“I am always protected by the Venezuelan people, we have a good intelligence service,” he added.
RT affirms that the Russian government will be firmly in Maduro’s corner regarding Venezuela moving forward:
“Russia will defend its interests in Venezuela within the international law using “all mechanisms available to us,” Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, told Russian media on Tuesday.
Russia has kept close ties with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and has extended loans to Venezuela, including oil firm Rosneft lending money to Venezuela’s state-held firm PDVSA. Rosneft has extended $6 billion of loans to PDVSA, which needs to be fully redeemed in crude oil supplies by the end of this year.
According to S&P Global Platts, as of November 2018, Venezuela had $3.1 billion outstanding loan to repay to Rosneft. The Russian company also has five joint upstream projects with PDVSA in Venezuela.
However, the US Treasury slapped another round of sweeping sanctions against PDVSA on Monday, in order to “help prevent further diverting of Venezuela’s assets by Maduro and preserve these assets for the people of Venezuela.”
The US backed last week Juan Guaido, the chairman of the National Assembly, as the legitimate president of Venezuela, after Guaido declared himself interim president.”
While Maduro is known to talk about deranged conspiracy theories, he may be onto something regarding his Columbia suspicions. Trump’s national security adviser John Bolton, an infamously insane warmonger, was seen walking around with a notepad with plans to send thousands of US troops to Columbia jotted down on it.
So this notepad that National Security Advisor John Bolton was holding today at the White House briefing on Venezuela says:
“Afghanistan -> Welcome the Talks. 5,000 troops to Colombia.”
If confirmed this would be a pretty terrible OPSEC breach.https://t.co/KS0Issfvps pic.twitter.com/IOrSprG567

Making matters worse, one of the belligerent and disgraced neocons in history - Elliot Abrams - recently wormed his way into the Trump administration to handle Venezuela policy. Trump’s poor managing of personnel is finally coming back to bite him. He needs to put America First and let the people of Venezuela decide their national leader without foreign interference.
