President Trump has frequently talked tough about border security, but his actions have not always aligned with his words. With the largest migrant caravan thus far set to make its way across the US southern border, top officials in the Trump administration are assuring the public that their boss is deadly serious this time around about closing the border.
“When [former Obama DHS Secretary] Jeh Johnson said it’s a crisis, I hope people now believe us. A lot of folks in the media… Democrats didn’t believe us a month ago, two months ago, when we said what was happening at the border was a crisis: a humanitarian crisis, a security crisis,” said acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney during an appearance on ABC’s This Week.
“One hundred thousand people coming across the border this month… that is a crisis,” Mulvaney added.
White House counselor Kellyanne Conway echoed Mulvaney’s sentiments imploring us that Trump isn’t bluffing this time about shutting down the US-Mexico border.
“It certainly isn’t a bluff. You can take the president seriously,” Conway said during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday.”
“Congress can fix the problem of immigration that they’ve failed to fix. This president is looking at the metrics,” she added.
On Friday, Trump made the threat to shut down the border to finally stop the madness that this bringing so much filth and crime into the US.
“Mexico is going to have to do something, otherwise I’m closing the border,” Trump said.
“I’ll just close the border,” he added. “When you close the border, also you will stop a lot of the drugs from coming in.”
“It would be so easy to fix our weak and very stupid Democrat inspired immigration laws,” Trump wrote in a Tweet on Saturday. “In less than one hour, and then a vote, the problem would be solved. But the Dems don’t care about the crime, they don’t want any victory for Trump and the Republicans, even if good for USA!′
Trump has already announced that he intends to cut off foreign welfare to third-world sh-tholes like El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras because of their alleged complicity with the caravan scheme.
“At the Secretary’s instruction, we are carrying out the President’s direction and ending FY 2017 and FY 2018 foreign assistance programs for the Northern Triangle. We will be engaging Congress as part of this process,” a spokesperson with the State Department said in a press release.
Trump will eventually have to make good on his threats if he truly wants to protect his country from invaders. The fake news media will never make it easy for him, but making America great again will require great tenacity and sacrifice. Shut down that border and throw out those illegals, Mr. President!
