On Thursday night – Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during a televised announcement showed a new State Department map of Israel autographed by none other than US President Donald Trump. He declared to viewers that it marked the “disputed” Golan Heights as part of Israel with the words “nice” inscribed in President Trump’s handwriting.
The map was a gift from Trump’s son-in-law and Senior Adviser Jared Kushner, who is visiting Jerusalem as part of a bigger trip. “Jared Kushner brought me the updated map that includes the Golan Heights within Israeli sovereignty – here is the signature of President Trump and he writes here ‘Nice,’ ” Netanyahu said.
Israel captured the Golan Heights plateau from Syria during the 1967 Six-Day War and officially annexed it in 1981, using it as a strategic military post – it is not far from Syria’s capital, Damascus. Israel fought to retain it after a costly campaign in the 1973 Yom Kippur war – successfully. In March, Trump recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, reversing more than 50 years of vague and inconsistent American policies. The anti-Zionist international community recognizes the land as Syrian territory under Israeli ‘occupation’.
Regardless of modern diplomatic disputes, the Golan Heights was historically part of ancient Israel – archaeology proves this.
Now, as Netanyahu faces a political crisis struggling to retain a coalition, Trump offers solace in showing the people of Eretz Israel that the symbolic American eagle‘s wingspan spiritually watches over the land of their ancestors in their time of need.
Last month, Netanyahu stated that a new town in this strategic plateau will be named after Trump – the President who moved the US embassy to the Holy city of Jerusalem which was Israel’s capital in the days of the legendary King Solomon. Despite the left’s insistence that Trump is a ‘Nazi’, he has proven time and again that he is a better friend to the Jewish people in Israel, the US, and the rest of the diaspora than the Democrats.
Kushner assured his host that US assistance to Israel is guaranteed by this administration “The security of Israel is something that’s critical to the relations between America and Israel, and also very important to the President, and we appreciate all your efforts to strengthen the relationship between our two countries,” he said.
