President Donald Trump once again snubbed London Mayor Sadiq Khan, describing him as a “national disgrace” who is destroying the UK’s capital.
These comments came shortly after London saw five violent attacks in less than 24 hours which left three dead and three injured.
Trump and Khan have been at loggerheads since 2015 although it has intensified recently.
“LONDON needs a new mayor ASAP. Khan is a disaster – will only get worse!” Trump tweeted on Saturday while sharing a post from right wing British commentator Katie Hopkins.
Khan’s spokesman replied that the mayor’s thoughts were with the victims’ families and he “is not going to waste his time responding to this sort of tweet”.
Knife crime has increased since Khan took office, according to a recent report. Khan, recently suggested ‘knife control’. The practicality of such a plan for a country where the people is to be seen – in a nation where locals are known to love steak, sausages and meat pie.
Oddly enough, Khan is responsible for decreasing the number of stop-and-searches, having declared the tactic ‘racist’.
