Can it be? Are the Frenchies north of the United States actually getting ready to Make Quebec Great Again? It seems to be the last place that would adopt Trumpian immigration policies, but they are certainly moving in that direction.
Quebec plans to reduce their immigration numbers by roughly 20 percent in 2019, according to Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion Minister Simon Jolin-Barrette. He made the announcement Tuesday that the numbers will be reduced from 53,300 in 2018 to between 38,000 and 42,000 the following year.
Jolin-Barrette claims that the reductions are being done to protect the national character. By admitting fewer immigrants, they can be assimilated more easily and have more opportunities to succeed in Quebec’s contracting job market.
“I am proud of the plan,” Jolin-Barrette added. “It is not respectful to tell people still in the country of origin: ‘Come work here in your domain,’ when we don’t necessarily have jobs in their area of expertise.”
The Quebec government regime claims the restrictions are only a temporary measure, but cucked Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his regime are still crying foul.
“What I hear across Quebec is that entrepreneurs and businesses are concerned about a lack of labour,” Trudeau said. “I am not sure it is the best time to reduce the number of people who come.”
“We are not surprised,” federal intergovernmental affairs minister Dominic LeBlanc said. “We are disappointed, however, that the government, faced with a shortage of labour, has decided to reduce the number of immigrants.”
Quebec Premier François Legault has stood his ground against regime criticism. He claims that he is fulfilling his public mandate, as there is strong support from Quebecers for the plan to curb immigration.
“I think Mr. Trudeau sees, like everyone else, that the [our government] has a clear mandate,” Legault said to a group of reporters.
“One immigrant in five left Quebec because they didn’t find a decent job,” Legault added. “So it’s a bit short-sighted to think we will solve Quebec’s labour shortages only with immigration.”
Quebec’s move shows that even liberal regimes will have to put the clamps down on immigration in order to keep power. The Trump effect is real, and it’s spectacular!
