President Donald Trump is issuing a strong rebuke against the International Criminal Court (ICC), a globalist entity beholden to the United Nations that supersedes US national sovereignty. He intends to sanction the organization if they charge US soldiers for war crimes in Afghanistan and continue to jeopardize the sovereignty of the state of Israel.
“America is a sovereign Nation and our first priority is always the safety and security of our citizens,” Trump said.
The move is being done in part because of the ICC’s recognition of the Palestinians. The US will be closing the Palestine Liberation Organization Office in Washington. Trump boasts of having the most pro-Israel administration in history.
“The Trump administration will not keep the office open when the Palestinians refuse to take steps to start direct and meaningful negotiations with Israel,” national security advisor John Bolton said.
“The United States supports a direct and robust peace process. And we will not allow the ICC or any other organization to constrain Israel’s right to self-defense,” Bolton said.
Radical Islamists are crying foul at Trump fulfilling his pledge to put America first while showing dedication to familiar political allies.
“We reiterate that the rights of the Palestinian people are not for sale, that we will not succumb to U.S. threats and bullying,” Palestinian official Saeb Erekat said in a press release. “Accordingly, we continue to call upon the International Criminal Court to open its immediate investigation into Israeli crimes.”
The White House also points to the fact that US participation in the ICC is unconstitutional because the multilateral treaty that would have brought the United States into the court was never officially ratified by the Senate.
Trump is clearly not afraid to take bold, controversial actions in order to reassert US sovereignty against international influence.
