Rap icon Kanye West followed up his meeting with President Donald Trump with a visit to Uganda where he met the nation’s controversial leader Yoweri Museveni.
President Museveni has been criticized due to human rights abuses against gays ever since homosexuality was banned in 2014. That didn’t stop Kanye from meeting with him alongside his socialite wife Kim Kardashian to present Museveni with a pair of Yeezy trainers.
Predictably, liberals miss the point completely regarding Ye’s diplomatic summit in Uganda. Similar to how President Trump is engaging North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, Ye is engaging Museveni in order to win his trust, get his ear, and perhaps move him toward reforming his Draconian policies.
The haters took to social media to whine about Ye’s power moves.
Kasalina opined in a Twitter post: “It seems to me like Kanye is obsessed with siding with our oppressors. Trump is honestly trash and that’s his superhero. Museveni is a literal dictator and he’s gifting him with sneakers. wth?”
Mithrandir Nikolaj wrote: “Kanye West lost my respect when he visited Museveni. From visiting the Greatest President who brought entire new civilization in America to the last standing dictatorship African President.”
A deranged commenter added: “Kanye GOD who I believe is the most high will never forgive you to side with the dictators oppressing Uganda at the expense of people tortured and killed because of their political differences with museveni. In name of painting Uganda as a good country.”
Martha Kay attempted to make a joke that fell flat: “I am sure museveni didn’t know Kanye and Kim West before they came to Uganda, he might forget them the moment they leave.”
Nevertheless, Ye’s diplomatic summit was a resounding success.
“I welcome American entertainment stars Kanye West and Kim Kardashian to Uganda. I held fruitful discussions with the duo on how to promote Uganda’s tourism and the arts,” Museveni wrote in a Twitter post.
“I think Kanye for the gift of white sneakers. Enjoy your time in Uganda. It is the true Pearl of Africa,” Museveni added.
The world is coming together, and if this new era of peace and prosperity truly comes to fruition, we will have trailblazers like Kanye West and Donald Trump to thank for it.
