Marine Le Pen’s National Rally party (RN) stands ahead of President Emmanuel Macron’s LREM party in a poll that comes, less than a month away from European Parliament elections.
The parliamentary election is seen as part of a global contest between right-wing populists who want to stop immigration, neo-liberalism, SJW culture and globalism vs progressive Europhiles pushing for a more united, progressive Europe.
Either way, the ‘Trump effect’ has worked in Europe.
Madame Le Pen, has accused pro-EU progressives like Mr. Macron of bending to the demands of the political elite in Brussels and is an ardent critic of Jean-Claude Juncker, outgoing president of the European Commission of stripping EU member states of their authority and sovereignty over their own borders.
Right wing leaders like Salvini and Le Pen do not prominently advocate Italexit or Frexit type scenarios, even though they seek to weaken the EU’s grasp over them.
