US President Donald Trump has worked closely with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to beat back radical Islam and protect the only democracy in the Middle East, but Hamas is not making it easy to keep the peace. An associate of the terror group explains their belligerent stance toward the Israelis and vows that Palestine will rise very soon along with an Islamic caliphate.
“We are looking forward to two important things which are within sight,” former Hamas interior minister Fathi Hammad said, as translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute.
Those first goal that Hammad referenced is the “cleansing of Palestine of the filth of the Jews, and their uprooting from it” and the second goal is remaking an Islamic caliphate to dominate the region “once the nation has been healed of its cancer — the Jews.”
Weekly “March of Return” protests are being held at the Gaza border where there has been sustained violence. Hammad promises even more violence to come.
“The fact that we participate in the peaceful March of Return does not mean that we have abandoned the military path of jihad,” he said. “Our finger is on the trigger and our plants are operating and working day and night. Every day we invent something new, using all our strength, our nerves, our bones and our flesh. Every day we manufacture more military power.”
Hammad was not finished with espousing his hatred. He called for a new Arab Spring to rise up and put radical Islam into power while issuing personal threats to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman.
“We say, facing this challenge with courage and bravery: We are coming for you Netanyahu. We are coming for you Lieberman,” he said. “We are coming to chop your heads off your necks. We are coming to chop off that entity and to destroy that army, which our prophet informed us that we would defeat.”
Despite this rhetoric, Hamas claims they are not interested in war with Israel. The state of Israel refuses to accept this double-talk and remains on guard to defend the integrity of their nation by any means necessary.
“We are trying to be measured and responsible, but the leaders of Hamas are leading us into a situation in which there is no choice, a situation in which we will have to embark on a broad and painful military operation, not only for appearances,” Defense Minister Lieberman said. “Unfortunately, residents of Gaza will be among those who will have to pay the price.”
