China And Google: Partners In Orwellian Thought Control

The world’s largest communist government is working with the leftist tech giant to destroy individual freedom

Google is working feverishly with other tech giants to put restrictions on free speech and access to information on its various platforms in the United States, but that’s not the only way the monolithic corporation is implementing Big Brother. Google is also working with the ruthless communist government of China to perfect its system of Orwellian thought control.

The Intercept reports that Google has designed a program called Dragonfly that would work as a restrictive search engine allowing China to remove content on Android devices. Banned terms include the Mandarin equivalent of “human rights,” “student protest,” and “Nobel Prize.”

The search engine also allows the Chinese communists to tag phone numbers to different search items. This opens up yet another frontier for Big Brother to control, harass and surveil individuals.

“This is very problematic from a privacy point of view, because it would allow far more detailed tracking and profiling of people’s behavior,” said Cynthia Wong, who works with Human Rights Watch. “Linking searches to a phone number would make it much harder for people to avoid the kind of overreaching government surveillance that is pervasive in China.”

In addition, Google could work with the Chinese government to promote blatant propaganda through its search engine prototype. A Google insider told The Intercept that the program was “essentially hardcoded to force their [Chinese-provided] data” by design. The communist regime is particularly concerned with suppressing the truth about the level of pollution throughout China.

Google continues to stonewall journalists, legislators and others trying to hold them to account for its Orwellian schemes. Meanwhile, certain Google executives are resigning in protest due to the tech giant’s incredibly unethical and dishonest business practices.

“I view our intent to capitulate to censorship and surveillance demands in exchange for access to the Chinese market as a forfeiture of our values and governmental negotiating position across the globe,” wrote Jack Poulson, who was once a Google senior research scientist, to his former Google bosses in a letter of resignation.

Google is clearly out of control. President Donald Trump might just have to intervene to ensure that the free, open internet is protected against these greedy multinationals and hostile foreign powers.
