President Trump is the best friend that Israel and the Jewish people have ever had in the White House and will be remembered in Jewish history forever,” Yair Netanyahu, son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, in an interview with BlazeTV released on Tuesday.
Young Netanyahu spoke of Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the Israeli capital and showed gratitude for his moving the US embassy to the holy city last year, saying “The Jewish people still remember King Cyrus the Great from Persia, who recognized Jerusalem 2,500 years ago. So we have a long-term memory.”
King Cyrus was emperor of Persia around 600 to 530 B.C. He is known in Jewish lore as a non-Jewish ruler who allowed the Jews to return to their homeland after Babylonian exile and helped them rebuild the temple in Jerusalem.
Trump also recently recognized Israeli control of the disputed Golan Heights plateau which many recognize as Syrian territory.
Yair also spoke of Trump’s popularity in Israel, “The vast majority of Israelis adore America and adore President Trump. He is a real rock star in Israel.”
A Pew research study done last year confirmed Yair’s comments. It found that 83% of Israelis had a favorable view of the US with Trump in office.
During his visit to the US, Yair also met with Tucker Carlson of FOX News fame and avid Israel supporter. He also met with Katrina Pierson, a senior adviser to President Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign.
