Trump’s Free Market Healthcare Reforms Explained

The President has been working diligently to restore healthcare markets after Obama’s socialist take-over.

President Donald Trump has worked to restore America’s healthcare markets, which were devastated by Obamacare. He has done this in a myriad of ways despite the Congress standing in his way to protect the status quo.

Trump has already eliminated Obamacare’s individual mandate, expanded short-term, limited-duration health plans, and permitted the expansion of association health plans. Outside of Congress, Trump was able to take these measures to open up markets and provide relief to consumers while abiding by the Constitution.

“The American people deserve a healthcare system that takes care of them — not one that taxes and takes advantage of our patients and our consumers and our citizens,” Trump said.

But Trump has only just begun. He is working on the next phase of his healthcare reform plan that will bring down the astronomical prices of pharmaceutical drugs. Trump has already negotiated a price freeze with Pfizer, Amgen, and Novartis. The FDA approved more generic drugs in 2017 than any year in its history. Trump also signed the ‘Right to Try’ act allowing deathly-ill patients to access experimental medications.

Another key issue for the Trump administration is stopping the opiate crisis that is besieging American towns. He has started a “Campaign to Stop Youth Opioid Abuse” and an “Initiative to Stop Opioid Abuse and Reduce Drug Supply and Demand.” Trump has come around on slowing down the enforcement of marijuana prohibition as well – much to the chagrin of his drug warrior Attorney General Jeff Sessions – instead diverting resources to stopping far more harmful substances that actually cause a negative impact on society.

“Together, we will face this challenge as a national family with conviction, with unity, and with a commitment to love and support our neighbors in times of dire need. Working together, we will defeat this opioid epidemic,” Trump said.

While Obama permitted drug epidemics to continue, committed a socialist take-over of the US healthcare system and allowed prescription drug prices to spiral out of control, Trump is taking a hands-on approach to erase his predecessor’s shameful legacy on the road toward making America great again.
