President Trump Goes Public On Immigration

In his latest attempt to increase border security, Trump addresses the nation

On Day 18 of the government shutdown, President Trump has decided to get off of social media and go public with his arguments for increased border security funding, and building a wall on the southern border.  After failed negotiations with Democrats in the House and Senate, President Trump decided to pull no punches in his heavily publicized address to the American people.

The President began his speech by describing the “humanitarian and security” crisis at our border, saying that the nonstop flood of illegal immigrants at our border has overwhelmed our resources, and made us unable to send them back.  Many have speculated that President Trump may declare a national emergency in order to secure funding for the border wall, his speech tonight may lend credence to said speculation, as he laid the groundwork to paint a dire picture at our border with Mexico.

Trump continued his speech by listing off the many harms that our lack of security on the southern border have caused; from the flow of drugs brought across the border by smugglers, to the various murders that have been carried out by illegal immigrants, to the 20,000 children that have been smuggled illegally across the border by coyotes.

After giving a thorough diagnosis of the problem on our southern border, Trump argues for the efficacy of his proposed solution, including more border security, better surveillance and monitoring, and a steel barrier at the southern border, something he correctly indicated that Democrats have supported in the past.
