Freedom Caucus Rising: Mick Mulvaney Named Acting Chief Of Staff

President Donald Trump is putting the staunch fiscal conservative in a role of great importance in his administration

President Donald Trump is taking his time while finding the right candidate to serve as his Chief of Staff. In the mean time, he has appointed budget director Mick Mulvaney as the acting Chief of Staff until John Kelly’s permanent successor is found.

Trump made the announcement on his Twitter account:

Mulvaney is ecstatic with his new position:

Russell Vought, who served as Mulvaney’s deputy at the Office of Management and Budget, will supplant Mulvaney as the head of the agency. According to a report by The Hill, Mulvaney’s temporary stay in the position could become rather lengthy because of Trump’s level of comfort and trust in the man.

“There’s no time limit. He’s the acting chief of staff, which means he’s the chief of staff. He got picked because the president liked him they get along,” a senior administration official said to reporters.

Mulvaney was a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus while serving in Congress for three terms. He was elected to change the landscape of Washington D.C. by the tea party movement in 2010. Mulvaney has risen to become one of the shining examples of the movement’s success.

“He knows Congress. He knows Capitol Hill,” a senior official said of Mulvaney to The Hill.

Mulvaney was picked by Trump because he likes his no nonsense style. It is rumored that Mulvaney wants a different cabinet spot which is why he is not the permanent Chief of Staff at the present time. Nevertheless, freedom-minded conservatives and libertarians should rest easy knowing that Mulvaney is a rising star within the administration.
